Holland & Barrett chief executive Tony Buffin will reportedly quit his role over a reward dispute, more than a year after joining the company.

Buffin, who joined Holland & Barrett in May 2019, is leaving after a failure to agree on a long-term incentive plan with the retailer’s owner, L1 Retail, Retail Week reported.

The investor bought the business for almost £2 billion in 2017.

Meanwhile, B&Q owner Kingfisher ex-group digital director & Screwfix chair Steve Willett will replace Buffin.

Willett is currently a non-executive director at the health retailer.

Buffin had become “frustrated” by the lack of agreement on a reward plan despite being in his role for over a year.

He had previously worked for Boots, and was the chief executive of the Nectar loyalty scheme.

Most recently, Buffin served as the chief operating officer of Travis Perkins.

Holland & Barrett has 1300 stores in 18 countries, and is thought to have traded well during the coronavirus pandemic after staying open.
