Argos to spread some much-needed festive cheer with Christmas advert premiere

// Argos’ Christmas 2020 advert set to air on ITV tonight at 8pm
// Retailer follows on from last year’s ‘Book of Dreams’ theme, with Argos catalogue once again taking centre stage
// Advert comes as non-essential retailers in England prepare to shut for second lockdown

Argos will unveil its Christmas advert on Sunday November 1 at 8pm during ITV’s Family Fortunes.

The festive commercial stars two sisters, Lucy and Daisy, who perform as mini magicians for their parents and family.

The campaign marks the return of Argos’ ‘Book of Dreams’ theme from 2019, which saw the retailer put its catalogue back at the forefront of its Christmas advertising for the first time in a decade.

Thought to be the first Christmas ad to broadcast by a major British retailer this year, Argos said the campaign “celebrates the joy of going back to basics and classic Christmas traditions”.

Featuring a festive themed performance from children in front of their proud parents, Argos said the advert focuses on conveying a “sense of togetherness, love and support” and that it is “the perfect tonic at the end of a very different year”.

“This Christmas families are looking for escapism after what has been a challenging year for so many. Our magic show highlights how a simple gift can make a special memory,” Argos senior campaign manager Rob Quartermain said.

The advert will air just a day after the Government announced a new four week lockdown for England, which will begin on Thursday November 5 and include the closure of non-essential retailers.
