He was chief executive of rival lifestyle and fashion retailer Joules for 10 years, and more recently he was chairman of menswear retailer Moss Bros for two years.

Porter is also currently non-executive chairman of lifestyle brand Emma Bridgewater.

At Fat Face, he replaces Lord Stuart Rose, who stepped down as chairman in September after seven years in the role.

Lord Rose had stepped down after Fat face completed its refinancing scheme, which features a £15 million cash injection, under new owners – a consortium of lenders including Alcentra, Goldman Sachs, HIG and Lloyds.
