Tesco has hired former Sainsbury’s executive Karen Whitworth for a position in its boardroom as non-executive director.
Effective from June next year, Whitworth will also be appointed as a member of Tesco’s audit committee and corporate responsibility committee.
Up until 2018, she worked ay Sainsbury’s, where her most recent role was business unit director for non food grocery.

She is also a former chief executive of Whitworth Corporate Holdings.
Meanwhile, Whitworth is currently a non-executive director of Pets at Home, The Rank Group and Tritax Big Box REIT.

“Her wealth of experience across a number of commercial, operational and governance roles, together with her knowledge of retail and corporate strategy, will undoubtedly bring additional valuable knowledge and perspective to the board.”
