M&S hires Alastair Brass as new retail operations director

// Alastair Brass named new retail operations director for M&S
// He will be responsible for every aspect of M&S’s retail operations function
// He begins in April and will report to M&S retail operations and property director Sacha Berendji

M&S has announced the appointment of Alastair Brass as its new retail operations director as it pushes on with its transformation strategy.

Brass will join M&S in April from Centrica, where he is currently customer contact director and was previously transformation director.

Prior to that, he was transformation change director at Dixons Carphone for two years.

In his new role will report to M&S retail operations and property director Sacha Berendji.

M&S said Brass’ remit will be to build a store estate “that’s fit for the future with industry-leading retail operations and empowered colleagues is a key part of M&S Never the Same Again transformation programme”.

As retail operations director he will be responsible for every aspect of M&S’s retail operations function, including customer and central operations, clothing and home operations, food and UK franchise operations and retail efficiency.

“Alastair will utilise the wealth of experience in central operations, customer service and transformation he’s acquired during his time at Centrica, Dixons Carphone, Capita and Thomas Cook, as he helps to drive forward the M&S transformation and develop industry-leading operations,” the high street stalwart said in a statement.

Brass said: “M&S is a much loved brand and has built its reputation on outstanding customer service.

“I’m incredibly excited to become part of the leadership team driving its transformation and help deliver a retail experience that is fit for future, supported by industry leading operations.”
