Crozier is a City stalwart who was appointed to the position in 2018, replacing Brian McBride at the time.

He first emerged as a corporate leader at Saatchi & Saatchi, becoming joint chief executive of the advertising agency.

He then went on to become chief executive of ITV, Royal Mail and The Football Association, and also chairman of Vue International.

He took the chair at Asos in 2018 and had to guide it through IT problems at its warehouses.

At BT, Crozier will be expected to stabilise the board and help manage BT’s relationships with Ofcom.
