BrewDog has appointed a former Asda boss as its chairman in a bid to turn around the business.

The Aberdeenshire beer-maker has recently been accused of a having a toxic working environment.

Allan Leighton, who was previously the chief executive of Asda and the jewellery retailer Pandora is joining the board of the brewer as an independent non-executive chairman with immediate effect.

In addition to his role as chairman, Leighton will also act as mentor to BrewDog chief executive James Watt, providing “experienced counsel on leadership and governance matters” as the firm enters its next phase of growth, in particular expanding its international footprint.
