Asos dealing with supply chain issues as Christmas nears

// Asos delaying orders as it is hit by supply-chain issues
// Two suppliers have blamed the delays on labour shortages in Asos’s warehouse
// Asos said the delays are down to global freight disruption

Asos has been delaying orders from suppliers as it faces a stock shortage amid the ongoing supply-chain difficulties.

It has been reported that two suppliers have blamed the delays on labour shortages in the warehouse, although an Asos spokesperson has denied this claim.

The ecommerce fashion retailer said the delays are simply down to global freight disruption, leaving suppliers unable to deliver on time.

“We have a robust, professionally organised global supply-chain operation that is functioning well,” the spokesperson revealed. “A small number of supplier orders have been deferred but this is normal for retailers.”

Asos stocks over 875,000 products and operates its UK business out of a warehouse based in Barnsley, with others based in Berlin and Atlanta.

It recently opened another facility in Lichfield, Staffordshire, which will be fully operational in about six months.

The online retailer acquired another warehouse in Sheffield to create space for the £30 million of stock acquired through its acquisition of Topshop in February.
