Boots is reportedly seeking to put its Aromatherapy Associates brand up for auction.

The health and beauty retailer is preparing to sound out potential bidders for the self-care brand as it faces a potential takeover next year.

Boots acquired Aromatherapy Associates in 2014.

The deal does not involve the retailer’s other wholly owned brands, Sky News reported.

Aromatherapy Associates was founded in 1985 by Geraldine Howard and Sue Beechey.

The company has since expanded to offer a range of essential oil-based products.

Last week, Boots’ parent company Walgreen Boots Alliance announced it was considering putting the pharmacy chain on the market next year for an estimated £10 billion.

Walgreen Boots Alliance is lining up Goldman Sachs advisers to look into a potential sale of the pharmacy.

A potential stock market listing could also be considered, as well as a private sale.
