Lidl GB has welcomed Peter de Roos to its board of directors following his appointment as chief commercial officer for the discount supermarket.

The news follows last November’s announcement that Ryan McDonnell would be taking on the role of CEO at Lidl GB from February 2022, following current CEO Christian Härtnagel’s imminent move to Lidl Germany.

Previously CCO for Lidl Netherlands, de Roos will join Lidl from 1 April 2022, taking on overall responsibility for buying, marketing and promotional activity, and will be reporting into McDonnell.

Chief trading officer Martin Kottbauer, who retains responsibility for buying, will report directly to de Roos.

“I’m pleased to welcome Peter on to our board of directors, bringing with him a wealth of experience within the Lidl group,” said Lidl’s current CEO Christian Härtnagel.

“Progressive range development, a robust pricing and promotional strategy and creative marketing initiatives are core to our business – Peter will add a new dimension to these areas and help ensure that we maintain our customer promise of having the best products at the lowest prices on the market.”
