Health and beauty specialist Lush opened its latest “customer journey” concept store at Leicester’s Highcross shopping centre on Friday.

The store is part of Lush’s commitment to invest in the high street. It has earmarked more than £5m into refitting a selection of stores to its new format across the UK and Europe this calendar year.

The Leicester store is the third Lush shop to adopt the customer journey concept. It is a relocation at Highcross and is double the size of its original shop at 110 sq m.

The customer journey concept is designed with “ease of shopping” in mind, according to the retailer, and makes the customer experience much clearer.

The store is split into three main product areas of Fresh haircare and skincare, bathing, and gifting, each with its own identity.

Lush flagged that the concept made it particularly easy to pick up seasonal gifts in the lead up to Valentine’s Day with the gifting area featuring traditional ethical gifts, bespoke gifting, and fragrance gifts.

Sustainability has also been central to the store, which is kitted with repurposed furniture and has a Bring It Back recycling scheme in place, which encourages shoppers to recycle their plastic packaging. For each plastic Lush item returned, customers will receive a 50p credit to spend on their Lush basket that day.
