Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has put an out-of-town retail property portfolio up for sale in a deal that could reach a total of £320 million.

The sportswear retailer has accumulated retail parks, shopping parades and standalone shops over the past several years.

Ashley is selling 16 assets, including retail parks in Wigan, Cheshunt, Aberdeen, Thurrock and Cheetham Hill, near Manchester.

The billionaire’s retail chains, which include Sports Direct, House of Fraser and Flannels, account for a quarter of the income across the portfolio.

Ashley is seeking to cash in on renewed investor demand for retail parks, perceived to be less at risk than high streets to the rise of ecommerce.

Retailers are using larger stores on retail parks as distribution centres and click-and-collect hubs.
