Superdrug offers 18,000 staff additional day off during Queen’s Jubilee

// Superdrug and Savers store staff, distribution centre workers and head office staff will be offered additional day off during the June bank holiday
// Stores will remain open over the four-day weekend beginning June 2

Superdrug and Savers have revealed that store staff, distribution centre workers and head office colleagues across the UK will be offered an additional day off during the June bank holiday.

Superdrug said it will offer 18,000 workers across the Superdrug and Savers businesses the additional day off to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

Although stores will remain open over the four-day weekend beginning June 2 colleagues throughout Superdrug and Savers stores, distribution centres and head office will be able to take an additional day off.

Superdrug said it is encouraging other retailers to offer their employees an additional day off as a ‘thank you’ gesture during the bank holiday.

Superdrug CEO Peter Macnab said: “As a proud British business, we are delighted to be able to give all UK colleagues an additional day off to mark such an incredible moment in British history.

“We have seen that our retail workers are some of the hardest working people in the country, particularly throughout the last two years. We hope that other forward thinking businesses will follow our lead and give their staff a well-deserved break to enjoy the celebrations this year.”

The extra day off will apply to all colleagues across the UK (including Isle of Man & Jersey, but excluding Republic of Ireland) and for colleagues in Dundee, this year’s Victoria Day Bank Holiday will also be shuffled to fall on Thursday 2nd June.
