Amazon fulfils direct from brand stores to offer same-day delivery

// Amazon will fulfil directly from the stores of retail partners including Superdry, Diesel and PacSun
// Some stores will also offer click-and-collect to shoppers that have bought items on Amazon

Amazon is enabling Prime members to shop products from local stores and have items delivered the same day with the launch of a new fulfilment option.

Brands including Superdry, Diesel, and PacSun are all taking part in the new delivery initiative that has launched in more than 10 US cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and Miami.

Some retailers are also offering the option to buy online with Amazon and collect in the store.

The service is free for US Prime members who spend $25 and $2.99 for members who spend below $25, the retailer said.

Shoppers can order products on Amazon, and the online giant sends the order to the retailer, which fulfills it from store inventory. An Amazon delivery driver then picks up the order from the store and delivers to the customer’s doorstep the same day.

PacSun vice president of ecommerce Mimi Ruiz said: “We see high potential in our expanded seller partnership with Amazon, which includes delivery directly from select PacSun retail locations. This is one more way for us to offer our customers the styles they want and love, when they want them.”

Amazon Delivery Experience director Sarah Mathew said that the new fulfilment option enabled it to offer customers “even greater selection, at faster speeds”.

Amazon posted its second-consecutive quarterly loss last week. Losses hit £1.6 billion in the three-month period ended June 30, compared to a profit of £6.4 billion a year ago.

A £3.2 billion dollar write-down of its investment in electric vehicle start-up Rivian Automotive was the main factor behind the loss.
