A very successful specialist retailer is looking to hire a Commercial Director to join their senior management team and to head up their electrical and photographic category.
Based in West Sussex and reporting to the Managing Director, this role will see you develop the commercial strategy in-line with business expectations and manage all commercial aspects of the business including: Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and E-Commerce
This is a significant role within the company, and allows for someone who enjoys very hands-on approach to your day-to-day role meaning you will ensure that sales initiatives are executed, marketing activity is planned and delivered, stock levels and pricing are maintained, market trends are monitored and new business opportunities are identified for the company.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Sales strategy - working with the MD and FD to develop and deliver annual sales plans
Sales forecasting - working with the online and offline channel managers to ensure company
sales targets are met, producing regular sales forecasts
Leading, managing and motivating a small marketing team
Overseeing all marketing activity including offline (print, events, in-store) and online (email,
social media, PPC)
Purchasing - negotiating best purchase prices, ensuring timely delivery, agreeing favourable
Supplier relationship management - developing and maintaining strong working relationships
with external suppliers/third parties
Stock control - maximising availability of key lines whilst minimising inventory, ordering stock in a timely manner, managing down aged stock
Leading, managing and motivating the e-commerce team
Strategic growth of the retail site over the next 3-5 years
Company website - development of the desktop and mobile sites including
content generation, technical development and site evolution, with insight into the purchase
funnel and traffic drop-out points and strategies to remove buying hurdles
The right candidate will be passionate about all things electrical or photographic, and will be relatively up to speed on the latest technological developments.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will:
- Have extensive experience of retail buying (preferably electrical)
- Be an accomplished manager, able to lead from the front and inspire others to follow
- Understand the true meaning of commerciality!
- Be an outstanding relationship builder
- Have strong stock planning and management skills
This is a once in a lifetime role! The position has come about as a result of continued growth and is a new position within a relatively flat structure.
There is a basic salary of up to £70k on offer, with good bonus and benefits.
