CATEGORY MANAGER Executive Summary

Core Description: Deliver competitive advantage by driving retailer category growth and contributing to their category strategies while setting up the brand to disproportionately win through superior adoption of Shopper Based Design principles and analytical excellence.

Key Responsibilities: Leverage analytical tool sand integrate various data systems to develop new department and category insights.

  • Turn raw data into actionable conclusions to become an indispensible partner to the customer and to the Account team.
  • Provide input into retailer category strategy using Shopper Based Shelf Principles ie. key shopper insights that ultimately influence the assortment and merchandising layout at range review.
  • Leverage Shopper and Retailer Equity insights to partner with customer to input into the development of Joint Business Plan.
    • Develop ongoing and detailed knowledge base of key customer strategies and plans through strong customer penetration.
  • Influence retailer decisions on companies categories as an outcome of perceived objectivite
  • Build an impartial, trusting & specialist relationship with the customer's Trading and Merchandising team relationship in your customer outside of the commercial relationship, become the first point of call for you customer on all aspects of category development in-store, act as the 'white coat' expert on the category

Essential skills required: Ambitious, self-starter, driven

  • Commercial experience is an advantage.
  • Proven track record for building collaborative relationships
  • Negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Can analyse info to solve problems, and can use judgement to combine data, intuition and knowledge to made informed & timely business decisions.
  • Focused on results, acts with a sense of urgency & determination with the end result in mind.
  • Accountability - Acts as an owner of the business, and is answerable for the results.
  • Team player, proactive, dynamic, highly organized.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint & ProSpace (preferred but not essential)

The network you would work with: This position will liaise internally specifically with the key account managers and the brand teams. This position will also enable the successful candidate an opportunity to expand their network externally with key accounts, buyers, merchandisers and senior management.

Qualifications required: Degree Qualified would be advantageous
