Job Description

This very exciting London based footwear house is looking for a [Footwear Designer]searches/footwear-designer-jobs) to join its team. Your principal accountabilities will be: * Managing the design direction and translating market input into innovative designs * Conceptualizing the footwear line * Giving a clear brand identity * Participating in field research to identify customer’s expectations * Travelling to enhance design trend/ knowledge taking part in development trips to factories * Contributing design solutions * Offering creative input for the new product development team * Using knowledge of costing and shoemaking to develop cost efficient product * Demonstrating knowledge of materials, pattern making, and the fitting of footwear * Developing and creating illustrations and technical drawings for new design concepts Your key skills and experience: * Strong work ethic * Understands the casual / sports heritage of the brand * Able to understand and work within the restrictions of the product and the brand (fashion meets function) * Experience of working with Far East factories * Strong Commercial Attitude * Commercial * Adaptable * Experience of developing midsoles / outsoles is an advantage but not essential * Very clear communicator (written and sketches) * Willing to travel as required * A “can do” attitude * Ability to design around a problem * Able to take instruction * Ability to work to a deadline You should be a fun and fearless individual who is able to understand and work within the restrictions of the product and brand and yet be able to give us a clear brand identity.
