Lidl GB is cutting its rapid EV charging tariff to 59p/kWh for Lidl Plus customers as it invests £10m in expanding its charging network this financial year.
The discounter plans to install around 100 new rapid chargers at existing stores, while the majority of newly built stores will also be equipped with rapid charging facilities.
The investment follows £25m committed to Lidl GB’s EV charging network since 2017, with around a third of its stores now offering rapid charging.
Lidl said the new Lidl Plus tariff, reduced from 62p/kWh, could save drivers around £4.41 per charging session compared with a market average of 80p/kWh, equivalent to approximately £529 a year.

The retailer said its charging network powered 49.1 million miles of electric driving over the past year, with an estimated net carbon saving of around 10,600 tonnes of CO2.
The tariff reduction comes as the number of fully electric cars on UK roads has surpassed 2.1 million, while concerns remain over the availability of public charging infrastructure.
