British fashion brand Hunter is to open its first global flagship store on Regent Street, London.

A 5,000 sq ft store will open this autumn which follows two new brand categories – Hunter Original and Hunter Field.

The brand, known for its wellington boots and umbrellas, was founded in 1856 and is the holder of two Royal Warrants.

James Seuss, CEO of Hunter, said: “Choosing to establish our first retail presence on Regent Street stays true to our heritage as a British brand. Alongside our global e-commerce site, it allows us to create an immersive environment, in which to engage directly with our customers and communicate the spirit of the Hunter brand.”

Regent Street is in the midst of a £1bn regeneration plan with asset management firm The Crown Estate which will deliver over 70,000 sq ft of new retail space.

Hunter was established in 1856 as the North British Rubber Company. In January 2012, funds managed by Searchlight Capital Partners L.P., a private investment firm operating in Europe and North America, became majority shareholders in the Company.
