Outdoor clothing brand Musto has appointed distribution specialist Global Freight Solutions (GFS) to handle its domestic and international distribution, it has been announced today.

Known for its range of sailing, equestrian, shooting and leisure apparel, Musto is the latest retailer to sign a deal with the carrier, Daniel Ennor, Commercial Development Director for GFS, believes that the firm‘s popularity is the result of its innovative approach to supply chain continuity.

“With such a large range of products and large geographical span of commercial operations, a firm like Musto needs to know that it has the sort of supply chain processes in place to cope with almost any eventuality in the UK and overseas.

“Just as its reputation has been founded on the development of new, sport-specific clothing, GFS has become recognised for creating a way of working with a number of different carriers and clients to ensure a more efficient and reliable means of distribution.”

Earlier this year, the parcel and carrier manager released research revealing that companies and retailers which manage deliveries themselves in an attempt to save money run up millions of pounds in extra costs annually and offered free delivery management software to combat the problem.

Essex-based company Musto, which takes its name from Olympic sailing silver medallist Keith Musto, believes that the new deal will improve their offer, as customers use their apparel in particularly perilous conditions that demand a high-level of trust across all aspects of the business.

“Our Customer Services, Supply Chain and carrier partners are a vital extension to the service we offer,” Vaughn Bendall, Supply Chain Director at Musto, said.

“We were introduced to GFS by one of our carrier partners and immediately felt that they shared the same commitment to service as we pride ourselves on.

“The flexibility, scalability and tracking information offered compliments our business.”
