Department store group House of Fraser has poached Asos‘s head of SEO as it looks to grow its “share of voice” in search.

Jamie Peach, who joins HOF in September, will lead a team of in-house SEO professionals and agency partners and is tasked with driving significant change within the company.

Director of online trading of House of Fraser, Martin Francis commented: “(Jamie) brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, which will be invaluable in driving development and innovation to create a best in class SEO programme.”

Online sales at HOF have grown over the last few years to represent 18 per cent of total sales.

Last week, Matthew Tod of consultants PwC said retailers should “make the most of SEO and shopping channels” to target consumers actively looking to buy.

Peach has nine years marketing experience in the digital field and was at Asos‘ head of SEO for one year. Prior to that he was SEO director at agency Resolution Media between June 2011 and July 2013.

He began his SEO career at Ladbrokes eGaming, before moving on to agency Razorfish where he worked with retail clients Starbucks, Sony and McDonalds.
