Liberty has appointed Alex Pregnolato as its new chief financial officer, with the role taking effect immediately.

Pregnolato joins Liberty with experience across the luxury retail sector. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer and head of transformation at De Beers, having previously held the role of chief financial officer for Versace Americas.

Commenting on his appointment, Pregnolato said: “Liberty is a growing business, with incredible heritage, a powerful brand, and is an authority in retail and design.

“I am delighted to join such an iconic and well loved company at an important moment and look forward to working with Adil and the leadership team to drive profitable growth, deliver the strategy and contribute my personal experience in global markets and in luxury operating models.”

Liberty chief executive Adil Mehboob Khan added Pregnolato brings valuable global expertise to the business.

“Alex comes from the top end of luxury and is a global asset, having worked and lived in the UK and across Europe, the Americas and Asia,” he said.

“As Liberty’s international appeal continues to grow, and our luxury brand is expanding globally, Alex brings financial and operational expertise that will help us accelerate further the business and bring Liberty magic to new customers and regions.”

The new appointment follows in the wake of Liberty last week naming Lydia King as it new managing director of retail, succeeding Sarah Coonan, who is set step down from the British department store at the end of the month.
