M&S has appointed former Asda veteran Matt Featherstone as head of business improvement in its Food Operations team.
Featherstone brings almost three decades of experience in operational and transformation roles from Asda and will lead M&S Food’s transformation efforts “through innovation and technology”.
As part of his induction, the retailer said Featherstone has spent recent weeks working in stores to gain frontline insight into the business and accelerate operational improvements.
The appointment follows a series of senior leadership changes in M&S Food, including Andrew Hicks joining as marketing director from 1 September and Kevin Bennett stepping up as food logistics director and CEO of Gist.
Featherstone will report to M&S Food managing director Alex Freudmann as the retailer continues to focus on evolving its food business.
