Waitrose is permanently extending its quick-commerce delivery hours at 35 stores across the UK, following strong demand for late-night and early morning grocery deliveries.
The grocery retailer initially extended delivery hours at more than 50 stores last month during the World Cup. Customers continued ordering later in the day at most of the participating locations, prompting Waitrose to make the longer hours permanent.
Most of the 35 stores will now offer deliveries until midnight, while selected high-demand locations will provide a 24-hour service.
Customers will be able to order groceries including fresh food, ready meals and snacks directly to their homes in as little as 20 minutes through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.
Waitrose director of online Laura Burbedge said the retailer had seen that customers valued being able to shop when it suited them.
“The World Cup proved that our food-loving customers value the flexibility of shopping at Waitrose whenever they need us,” said Burbedge.
“By extending our delivery windows, we’re making it even more convenient to access the delicious, high-quality food our customers love.”
