This week, Morrisons shoppers were left shocked, disgusted or simply confused after finding a “wretched” packs of wet boiled eggs preserved in a mysterious liquid on the supermarket’s shelves.
The huge packs were spotted in the meal deal section by the Twitter user @TrumpetSexy in a Morrisons store, sending social media users into a frenzy with questions, wisecracks and memes.
“My local Morrisons is selling actual sacks of wet eggs,” they tweeted.
“This is the most wretched and cursed item I have ever witnessed.”

In a follow up tweet, they added: “Also it’s in the meal deal section, which implies this is considered lunch?
“Does this count as a main, or a snack? I have so many questions, and no answers.”
The image has now amassed over 130,000 likes on Twitter with hundreds of users posting hilarious reactions to the strange product.

They’re boiled eggs in a bag and people are freaking out. The liquid is water, otherwise they’d all be a mangled mess. You’d think no one had ever seen a supermarket selling off their relatively short-code catering or bakery supplies before. During Covid lockdown mk1 a number of large chains were divvying-up their huge bakery counter flour bags into smaller quantity bags for retail sale as “bakery gate” wiped out their standard supplies, and counters were closed. This isn’t really noteworthy, weird yes, noteworthy no.
