Hauber Group has announced the closure of its womenswear brand Huaber after the Russian market plummets.

The German brand, which has over 80 stockists around the UK, has experienced a decreasing drop in sales across the Russian market. The label was founded in 1870 and features luxury clothes manipulated in front of premium store visuals. The apparel can be found in UK independent stores such as Courtyard in Guilford and Michelle B in Barrowford.

The brand was badly affected by Russia‘s economic downfall in 2014, which led to a large decrease in the country‘s consumer orders. The Hauber Group has decided to close the brand and concentrate on its other departments.

Walter Leuthe, Managing Partner and owner of Hauber Group, said: “Since the Russian crisis, we have experienced significant reductions in order volume. Therefore it is with a heavy heart that we are forced to close the brand.”

The group plans to focus on its other womenswear brand Luisa Cerano and Sporlastic, which makes orthopaedic items for the healthcare market.

Diane Skyes, Sales and Marketing Manager for UK and Ireland, said: “My priority is our Hauber partners and their sell-through. As such, I will be present to wind down the label through the autumn 15 deliveries, subsequent retailing period and thereafter, to maximise sales.”
