The sofa and carpet specialist ScS has announced the departure of its managing director Kevin Royal following 35 years at the retailer.

Royal is accredited with playing a vital role in growing the company from a four-store outfit to a multi-million-pound retailer.

Set to leave the company next year, Royal has held the role of managing director since 2016 following various roles like sales director and regional manager during his extensive tenure.

“Fourteen months ago I  began  putting together a succession plan to help future proof the retail senior management team of the ScS business, and this is now in place,” Royal said.

“Therefore the time is right for me to start to hand over the reins to them, and this I will do over the coming months.
