The high streets could soon see 1000 new job opportunities on the market as retail giant AS Watson confirms plans to open 88 news stores for its UK franchises.

The firm, which owns Superdrug, the Perfume Shop and Savers, is pushing ahead with its plans despite a plateau in high street sales and consumer confidence in the past year.

Of the 88 new stores, 40 of those will be for Superdrug which will hire around 600 new staff.

Meanwhile, 78 new jobs will be up for grabs when The Perfume Shop opens 13 new stores.
