Travis Perkins has appointed Frank Elkins as its new chief operating officer with immediate effect for its trade merchant businesses.

These include BSS, Benchmarx, Keyline and CCF, which generate more than £3.6 billion in annual revenue for Travis Perkins and have a branch network of over 1000 nationwide.

Elkins previously held a number of senior roles in sales, service and operations at Hagemeyer UK.

Elkins will report to Travis Perkins chief executive John Carter following the home improvement retailer’s announcement that it plans to focus on trade customers as well as improve decision-making.

Elkins first joined BSS in 2003 as commercial director and was later promoted to managing director in 2005.

He was promoted to divisional chief executive of the group’s contract merchanting division in 2013, a post he held until his current appointment.

“As divisional chief executive for our contract merchanting division, when he was responsible for the leadership and strategy development of our Keyline, BSS and CCF businesses, he succeeded in growing sales and profits by nearly 50 per cent over a five-year period,” Carter said.

Elkins said: “In our industry, it’s all about relationships and service: strong and personal relationships between branches, customers, and our suppliers.”
