The bedding retailer Dreams has announced it will be giving all its retail staff members extra holiday ahead of the Christmas break this year.

The doors of all stores will shut after trading on Monday December 20 and on the following day teams will finalise preparations in-store ahead of the Dreams winter sale.

Following this, employees will then be free to spend the next four days at home with their friends and family.

The retailer said the move recognises and rewards staff members’ hard work over the last year and will give them extra time to relax ahead of the busy retail period between Christmas and New Year.

Jonathan Hirst, chief operating officer and in-coming chief executive, said: “Our colleagues have worked incredibly hard this year and have been there for our customers in the most difficult of circumstances,”

“That’s why we’re delighted to continue our Christmas tradition and give our colleagues some well-deserved rest and special time with their loved ones. A small token of thanks for their remarkable efforts, ahead of what we know will be a busy period in-store.”
