Asos has signed a deal with Secret Sales to sell unsold stock as the online giant scales back on discounting.

From today, UK consumers will be able to shop from a selection of up to 1,000 products from Asos’ brands including Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge on the non-full-price marketplace.

The collection, which will no longer be listed on the retailer’s website, will be refreshed fortnightly with plans to expand the number of items available in the near future.

Asos corporate transformation director Jag Weatherley said: “It’s been a huge effort from everyone involved to get this partnership up and running in a short space of time.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing how we can develop our relationships with Secret Sales,” she said.

New Asos CEO José Antonio Ramos Calamonte revealed in December it would scale back on discounting as part of a £300m cost-saving package and planned to write off between £100m and £130m of inventory in a bid to refresh the brand.

Last week, the retailer hired senior restructuring executive Scott Millar to join its finance department as seeks to strengthen its business following a disappointing golden quarter which saw sales slip 8% year on year.
