// It joins Asda and Morrisons in lifting restrictions as supply improves

Lidl is to drop all its customer limits imposed on certain fresh fruit and vegetables by Monday.

The German grocer is understood to be removing its limit of three per customer on cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes as supply issues begin to ease.

The discounter joins Asda and Morrisons in lifting restrictions that were introduced after adverse weather conditions in Spain and Morocco impacted the availability of certain salad items across the grocery sector.

On Thursday, Asda said it had dropped its restrictions on broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, lettuce, salad bags and raspberries but has left the limits on tomatoes and peppers in place.

Morrisons followed suit in removing the customer limits on cucumbers but kept restrictions of two per customers on tomatoes, lettuce and peppers in place.
