Wilko has launched an administration sale with discounts on thousands of products in store.

Signs advertising the ‘Wilko administration sale’ have been emblazoned across store fronts with administrator PwC confirming to The Sun that it is taking place across all shops.

The signs promise ‘1000s of reductions throughout the store’.

Wilko plunged into administration last week, putting around 12,500 jobs in jeopardy.

PwC said that all stores would trade without any immediate redundancies. However, home delivery and click-and-collect have been scrapped.

Talks are underway to try to sell some or all of the business. The retailer said it had “a significant level of interest, including indicative offers”, however it was unable to complete the deal within the necessary timeframe.

It was in talks with private equity firms Laura Ashley-owner Gordon Brothers, Bensons for Beds-owner Alteri, and OpCapita, as well as a rival retailer.

Jackson said: “Over the past six months Wilko has been very open that we’ve been considering options to accelerate a turnaround plan given that we needed to make significant changes to the way we operate to restore confidence and stabilise our business.

“We left no stone unturned when it came to preserving this incredible business but must concede that with regret, we’ve no choice but to take the difficult decision to enter into administration.”
