Jollyes is giving away thousands of free poo bags as it teams up with local councils to encourage dog owners to ‘bag it and bin it’.

The pet specialist is handing out 140 free ‘Power Poop’ rolls next Friday (26 July) to the first customers at the launch of its new Blackburn store, which opens at 10am.

It will also give away 140 free poo bag rolls to the first customers shopping instore across its 100+ store estate on the same day. The move will see around 225,000 poop bags given away in total.

Jollyes said it was inspired by Blackburn and Darwen council’s campaign to get dog owners to do the “right thing” as the local authorities increase fines for dog fouling as part of a zero tolerance crackdown.

The retailer received a fresh injection of investment earlier this year when the private equity owner of Asda TDR Capital snapped up a majority stake.

Jollyes said the deal will allow it to invest in lower prices and accelerate its store opening programme to compete with rival Pets at Home.
