Rappers Krept & Konan are opening a supermarket specifically tailored to serve the needs of black, Asian and ethnic communities in Croydon.
Saveways is set to open on 1 February on 102 Beddington Lane, Croydon, the hip hop duo and Saveways co-founder Kaysor Ali said the move will set a “new benchmark in the UK ethnic grocery market”.
The 15,000 sq ft supermarket will specialise in premium halal produce and world foods.
It will house halal meat and poultry counters, fresh and frozen fish, a fresh bakery section, as well as tinned, ambient, chilled, household, hair and beauty, and cosmetic products.
Krept & Konan said the area has been under-served by smaller food shops that “often lack in product variety, hygiene standards, parking and fair pricing”.
The store is also set to provide modern shopping solutions such as click and collect, online ordering, as well as availability on delivery platforms like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat.
Posting on LinkedIn, Krept & Konan member Casyo Johnson said: “Happy to finally announce our partnership with my brother Kaysor Ali we have created a groundbreaking 15,000 sq ft 2 floor large-scale diverse and inclusive world foods supermarket.
“Offering a unique shopping experience tailored to meet the diverse needs of the local community.”
He continued: “Saveways is more than just a supermarket, it’s a hub for the community, celebrating cultural diversity while setting a new standard for halal and world food retailing in the UK.
“The combination of scale, variety, quality, and modern convenience makes Saveways a landmark destination for both everyday shoppers and bulk buyers alike.”
