Asos has appointed non-executive director and former Amazon Fashion CFO Natasja Laheij as its new chair.

Laheij succeeds Jørgen Lindemann, who has decided to step down at the end of his current term with effect from FY25 year end results.

She will be joined by board member William Barker, who takes up the newly created role of deputy chair and is tasked with supporting the retailer’s strategy, culture and operational initiatives. Barker is also the executive chairman of Tapi Carpets.

Laheij joined the Asos board in 2023 and serves as chair of the audit committee and is a member of the remuneration committee.

She has 30 years of international commercial and financial management, having previously worked at Deloitte Australia, Sony Ericsson, Apple, Amazon Fashion Europe and Google EMEA.

Asos chief executive José Antonio Ramos Calamonte said: “I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Jørgen, whose support has been invaluable to Asos throughout his tenure on the board.

“I look forward to working closely with Natasja given her extensive governance experience, and with William given his knowledge of Asos and operational expertise as we continue to execute our strategy.”

Lindemann added: “It has been a privilege to serve on the Asos board over the last four years, throughout an incredibly important period for the business.

“I have valued the Asos board and Natasja, William and José’s insights and oversight during this time, and I am confident that we have the right leadership to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.”

Last month, Asos promoted its director of group finance Aaron Izzard to the role of chief financial officer.

The ecommerce giant said that Izzard has been “instrumental” in driving its cost-efficiency programme, “demonstrating a relentless focus on operational improvements and improving customer experiences”.
