Waitrose has introduced a subscription service for customers who order their groceries online or via its app.

The ‘Waitrose Delivery Pass’ gives shoppers the option to pay upfront for their deliveries over a one-, six-, or twelve-month period.

An individual delivery slot without a pass costs between £2 and £4, while a one month pass will cost customers £8, a six-month pass will cost £45, and an annual pass £85.

The upmarket supermarket estimates that the yearly pass will save a customer booking one £4 delivery per week – worth up to £123 per year.

Shoppers with a Waitrose Delivery Pass will also receive early access to the retailer’s Christmas delivery slots, which go live in September.

Waitrose director of online Laura Burbedge said: “We’re investing in our online business to continuously improve it, giving our customers even greater value and the best possible experience.

“Thousands of customers signed up for Delivery Passes through our trial, so we expect to see strong demand across the UK as we roll it out.”
