B&Q is rolling out high-power EV charging hubs designed to support tradespeople and commercial drivers as part of a new partnership with RAW Charging.

It said that the tie-up would bring DC rapid and ultra-rapid charging bays to up to 26 B&Q stores across England and Wales over the next 12 months.

The rollout follows an £11m investment by RAW Charging, which will also deliver grid upgrades and high-voltage connections where required.

B&Q said the charging hubs have been designed with trades in mind, with spacious bays and longer dwell time options so customers can charge while shopping in-store.

The first wave of installations is already underway, with charging bays installed at B&Q stores in Cheltenham, Sidcup, Boston, Stanmore and Galashiels.

Once live, customers will be able to access the network using contactless payment and all major EV charging apps.

B&Q director of property Kingsley Mack said: “B&Q is committed to reducing our impact on the environment and to helping our customers to live more sustainably.

“Working with RAW Charging, we’re helping to make it easier for our customers to charge their electric cars and vans by offering ultra-fast, convenient, high quality EV charging points.”
