Jollyes is planning to double its store estate over the next five years after posting an 8.7 per cent rise in annual revenue.
The pet retailer said sales climbed to £169m in the year to 31 May, while like-for-like sales, excluding new stores, increased 4.3 per cent. Transactions were also up seven per cent over the period.
Jollyes, which currently has 123 stores, is aiming to grow to more than 250 locations as part of its five-year expansion plan.
The retailer will open its 124th shop in Derby on 10 July, followed by further openings in Evesham on 14 August, Great Yarmouth on 21 August, Sheffield on 4 September, Seaham on 11 September and Mansfield on 25 September.
Chief executive Adam Dury said it had been “a strong year for Jollyes” as the business expanded its store network, invested in staff and developed its offer.
He added that the retailer was “determined to accelerate” growth as it brings its value proposition to more communities across the UK.
During the year, Jollyes introduced new own-label ranges, including value brand Simply Jollyes, and expanded its frozen food proposition with brands such as Dibo, as more shoppers turn to raw feeding for their pets.
Dury said the retailer’s full-year performance reflected the strength of its value strategy and growing loyalty among pet owners.
He added that Jollyes’ pricing, store teams and continued range development gave the business a strong platform for its growth plans.
