Specsavers has unveiled a club guestlist series for the over 50’s.
Consumers can get on the guestlist by taking part in the company’s free online hearing screener.
The ‘TestList’ was devised by PR agency Golin Ketchun, in partnership with Specsavers in-house creative team, media communucations agency Manning Gotlieb and design consultancy Tangerine and is aimed at the over-50s who built Britain’s rave scene.
According to research from the firm, over a quarter of this generation still go out as frequently as they did 20 years ago and two thirds attend live music events.
Nick Rainbow, audiology marketing director at Specsavers, said “Too often in hearing-related marketing campaigns, the over 50s are depicted as ‘old’ but this is the generation that created rave culture and they’re still the ones keeping British & Irish nightlife alive.
“In true Specsavers style, The Testlist isn’t a typical health campaign, it’s a celebration of that culture, showing regular hearing checks are key to keep enjoying the things we love.”
According to the study, which was conducted by One Poll on behalf of Specsavers, one in five over fifties report that their hearing difficulties have reduced how often they go to live music gigs.
The Testlist aims to give them a reason to act, rewarding those who take the online screener test with access to exclusive live music events.
One such event is a DJ set from electronic dance act Groove Armada at London’s Phonox on 15 October 2026.
The marketing drive also includes a hero spot starring the music act.
Tom Findlay from Groove Armada said: “Our generation was the first to rave and they’re still on the dancefloor now. We put our ears to very good use back then and were way too busy having fun to think about the cost of it.
“I’ve experienced hearing loss and occasionally wear a hearing aid so I can really relate to this campaign. The Testlist gives people a reason to engage with their hearing so you can stay connected to the music you love.“
It will run across earned, paid, influencer and experiential channels.
