Barbour International has celebrated its 90th anniversary by unveiling a new collection, modelled by its global brand champions Idris Elba and Sienna Miller.
Barbour International was founded in 1936 by Duncan Barbour. Barbour designed the original suit for the International Six Days Trial motorcycling event. The suit aimed to keep up with the demands of competitive motorcycling.
The new collection resigns Barbour International’s “enduring design codes” into pieces for the modern wearer. It features a reimagined version of the original Barbour International A7 jacket, the Ladies International Jacket, Ladies GEA showerproof.
The Ladies International jacket has a belted waist and isn’t short of pockets; featuring five in its design. It also has leather look detailing. It’s Ladies GEA Showerproof Jacket uses the black and white Northumberland check from the 1960s.
The brand believes the new collection is “part of the wider Barbour Story”, adding that the brand has a “distinctive identity of its own” which is centred around its motorcycling heritage.
It said: “The anniversary collection celebrates that point of difference: the same commitment to quality and purpose that underpins Barbour, seen through the unique heritage and contemporary perspective of Barbour International”.
