Manchester outlet store posts strong footfall figures

Manchester‘s only outlet The Lowry posted a 13 per cent rise in footfall year-on-year as it invested in entertainment and leisure events.

Following a half term event in February, a garden party, live music and food festival are planned to entice shoppers over the next two months. The outlet offers consumers 70 per cent off retailers such as The Body Shop, Holland & Barrett and Whittard of Chelsea.

Its upcoming garden party in April will feature on-hand gardening experts and will sell produce from 80 stalls. Footwear sales rose 12 per cent, home and gifts were up 9 per cent while mixed fashion increased 8 per cent.

Helen Anderton, Centre Manager commented: “Part of Peel Outlets strategy, to bring in the crowds and to support tenants, is to invest in impactful events that will really appeal to our key audience catchments and drive new visitors to the Centre.”

The Lowry Outlet is part of MediaCityUK Manchester that houses companies such as BBC, ITV, SIS and Salford University.
