Frasers Group is to cut more than 100 roles in its Manchester head office as it looks to streamline the business.

The retail giant has entered a consultation period with staff from Missguided, I Saw It First and Studio Retail, Drapers reported.

The move is understood to be part of company-wide efficiency drive as the group continues its acquisition spree, following its most recent stake increase in Boohoo and Currys.

The streamlining strategy has seen 200 roles at the group’s head offices in Shirebrook and London axed, as well as 90 jobs cut following the acquisition of 14 businesses from JD Sports at the start of the year.

Commenting on last month’s head office cuts, Frasers Group said it had been through “significant change over the last year, having made a number of strategic acquisitions”.

“We are reviewing our team structures to identify efficiencies and streamline processes, and we have entered a consultation period with colleagues affected by these changes,” it continued.

“The changes will ensure we have the right structure and talent to support continuing profitable growth for Frasers Group.”

Chief executive Michael Murray warned of further cuts to its House of Fraser business last week, which has seen its store portfolio more than halve since it was snapped up by Mike Ashley’s retail group in 2018.

He said the retailer’s portfolio was “continually under review” and that some outlets were still “too big and we have to find solutions for the excess space”.

Have you guys not heard the news that Fraser’s is officially going to open in Queensgate Peterborough (Via the Peterborough Telegraph) and that it will bring the minimum of 200 jobs to Queensgate, it’s also hoped that the new Department Store will open in October. So it’s not all doom and gloom for the company!
