Marks & Spencer Food has partnered with the World Food Photography Awards to celebrate emerging talent within the sector and the artistry of food photography.

The new M&S Food Rising Star award will aim to help a new generation of food photographers break through to the next level, with entrants required to submit a selection of five images per portfolio.

Depicting a range of “beautiful” and “irresistible” studio styled images of food, the winning photographer will be invited to shoot an advertising campaign for the retailer.

“We work with some amazing food photographers who do incredible work for us, bringing the M&S Food vision to life,” said Rich Robinson, head of creative at Marks & Spencer Food.

“But now we’re excited to give the next generation a platform to help them make the leap into professional photography.”

All finalist images, including those of the M&S Food Rising Star, will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London. A hand-picked selection of finalist images will also be displayed at the Fortnum & Mason store in Piccadilly.

“This is such an exciting new award,” added Caroline Kenyon, founder of the Awards.

“When we first launched in 2011, I was determined we should have the involvement of M&S as the great patron of the best in food photography, and was delighted their Food Director became a judge. What a wonderful opportunity for the lucky winner!”
