Amazon has announced plans for its third annual Prime Day, raising the offer time to 30 hours and welcoming a wave of small businesses and entrepreneurs.

The date has been announced as July 11 and the offers will begin from 6pm the evening before.

Last year the shopping frenzy saw a 60 per cent rise in sales hitting around £300 million and this year is poised to be even bigger.

China, India and Mexico will now be included in the event, taking the number of participating countries to 13.

40 per cent of deals this year are expected to come from small businesses, having seen orders nearly triple last year.

“Our members love Prime Day and we were thrilled by the response over the last two years. It is inspiring us to make it even better this year for Prime members,” Amazon Prime vice president Greg Greeley said.

“Every side of our business is working to deliver more deals for a record number of shoppers. We even decided that 24 hours in a day just isn‘t enough time to shop all of the great deals – so we‘re giving Prime members 30 hours to shop on Prime Day.”
