UK footfall bounces back thanks to half-term

New research has found that footfall across the UK has bounced back in October despite the colder weather.

Footfall was boosted by school’s half-term holiday, which meant more families were able to visit retail destinations.

Store visits across retail destinations increased by 11.1 per cent week-on-week in the seven days covering October 24 to 30, according to data firm Springboard.

In terms of location, central London witnessed the biggest growth with footfall rising by 19.4 per cent week-on-week.

High streets and shopping centres benefited the most during the period with rises of 12.1 per cent and 15.2 per cent respectively from the previous week.

Meanwhile, footfall rose by 4.7 per cent in retail parks.

Footfall in coastal and historic towns rose by 18.9 per cent and 12.6 per cent respectively.
