Fashion retailer New Look has today announced the appointment of Bestseller Vice-CEO Anders Kristiansen as its new CEO.

Starting his new role on January 7th 2013, Kristiansen has also previously worked at stationery specialist Staples, prior to his role at Bestsellers Fashion Group, the largest fashion retailer in China.

Last month, New Look announced that UK like-for-like sales had slipped 3.1 per cent as it entered phase three of its ongoing recovery plans which seek to achieve operating cost reduction without damaging margins.

Alistair McGeorge, Chairman if New Look, said of the appointment: “I am delighted that Anders is to be New Look‘s next Chief Executive.

“He brings with him significant multinational retail experience and we very much look forward to welcoming him and working together.”

While New Look regularly rates highly on ChannelAdvisor‘s UK Commerce Index which details the fastest-growing retail sites in terms of Facebook fans, it is felt that more can be done to strengthen its multichannel reach.

Kristiansen commented: “New Look is a great brand and I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the company forward at this exciting stage.

“The challenge for the next few years is to build upon the solid foundations that have been laid by Alistair McGeorge and Tom Singh.

“I am greatly looking forward to working closely with them and the rest of the New Look team.”
