Mother and baby retailer Mothercare has appointed Nick Wharton as a non-executive director who will join the Board with effect from 14 November 2013.
Wharton, who has been the Chief Executive Officer at Dunelm Group since Decemeber 2010, worked at Halfords Group as its Chief Financial Officer and has financial experience with The Boots Company and Cadbury Schweppes.
Wharton‘s appointment comes as the retailer was hit by falling UK sales in Q2 despite a strong international sales rise of 12.4 per cent.
Commenting on the appointment, Alan Parker CBE, Chairman, said: “I am very pleased that Nick is joining us as a non-executive director. Nick will bring valuable retail experience to the Mothercare Board.”
Nick Wharton said: “I am delighted to be joining Mothercare, and look forward to working with Alan and the other members of the Board to support its business both in the UK and Internationally.”
