ASOS Boss Nick Robertson has long been aware of the growing importance of m-commerce across devices. More than three years ago, Robertson was quoted as predicting that 20-30% of all purchase would be made via mCommerce sites within the next three years. In preparation for this change in shopping habits, they launched their own mobile commerce app for iOS devices in October of 2011 – Robertson was not overly ambitious with his expectations.

The ASOS app aims to provide “a best in class shopping experience” for customers, having received a 5 star grading for the iOS version in the main app stores with over 15k positive user reviews. This year the iOS app featured in the Apple ‘Best Lifestyle apps‘ edit in 106 countries and on the homepage of Google Play across seven countries. 75,000 products and 850+ brands are available to shop in 15 currencies, delivered to over 240 countries. Since its launch the app has had almost 7m downloads globally and in the UK over 20% of all site visits now come via the app and 15% globally.
