Chris North, the man who heads up Amazon UK, is to leave the e-commerce giant after five years of service at the top.

Following 10 years with the business, North will be joining image publishing etailer Shutterfly. He will take on the role of President and Chief Executive as well as joining as a member of its board.

North‘s new annual salary will be $700,000 (£480,000) for the first two years in addition to a “transition bonus” of $1.5m (£1m) and shares in the company.

“We‘d like to thank Christopher for his many contributions and wish him the best with his new venture” Amazon said.

“With Shutterfly‘s dedication to customers, incredible team and track record of innovation, I believe the company is strongly positioned to grow and increase profitability in order to drive shareholder value,” said North.

The move will be effective as of 31 May.
